You're Not Alone (Slenderman X Reader) ch 9

    “Are you still reading those stories? You are aware that he’s no longer here, right? There's nothing to worry about,” (Best friend) says, shaking her head, as she enters your room. She throws her suitcase onto your bed, ready for a long night.

    It has been a little over a year now since the night Slenderman left you alone in your room. That night, he made you see the truth. That night, he put the world into black and white. That night, he shattered your reality. And you hated him for it. Nonetheless, he was right. Your parents proved that to you the next day, when your relationship with them was destroyed.

    “Call me crazy, insane, whatever, but I really can’t help myself.” You glance at the computer screen before you. “These stories depict him as a monster. One who likes to stalk children in the woods and kill them. And yet, I’m completely enthralled by him.”

    “Why would you want any part of something like that? He’s not human, __________, he is a demon. You should be happy he’s gone.”

    “I know that! I honestly thought that him going away would solve the problem, but all it did was make it worse. He stalked me for months, made me have nightmares, he even killed two people in front of me! Then, he just decides that he is going to come into my room and woo me! He told me to come into the woods, then just left for good.  Yet, despite everything he has done, all I want now is for him to come back. And I hate him for it.”

    “Come back? You can’t honestly mean to tell me that, if given the chance, he wouldn’t hurt you?”

    “Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn’t. I don’t know any more.”  

    “That’s my point. He is messing with your head, __________. I could be wrong, and he may actually have feelings for you, but that doesn’t matter. He is a murderer. You watched him kill two people, right? I don’t give a damn if you’re madly in love with him or absolutely despise him: he kills people. Even if he hasn’t killed you yet, that does not mean he won’t.”

    “Why do you just keep repeating everything that I already know? It doesn’t matter how many times you repeat this stuff to me: I am still confused. ”

    “He has fucked up your life, _________. Are just going to let one night change your opinion of him?”

    “That’s not what I meant! I told you: I.  Am. Confused. I wish I had an answer to that. I really do! I… I just don’t know!” as the words leave your mouth, tears threaten to fall from your eyes.

    (Best friend) pulls you into a hug, causing the tears to spill over.

    With her hand gently brushing your hair, she says, “I’m sorry, _________, I just don’t want you to get hurt anymore. We’ve been friends ever since we were little. I know you can stand your ground now, but Slenderman is different; you could die. I didn’t mean to make you cry. I just… the last thing I want is to lose you.”

    “Thank you for always being there for me, (best friend). I probably would have lost my mind already if it wasn’t for you.”

    “Okay, okay. Enough of this sappiness. Speaking of creepy and disturbing things, we should probably start planning for your Halloween party!” she exclaims.

    “Oh right! I almost forgot!” you say, wiping the last of the tears from your eyes.

    She rolls her eyes--it was so typical of you to forget something like this.
